The epilepsy Specialist Nurse will be a specialist in providing clinical advice, skill, knowledge and expertise in epilepsy. The post holder will initiate, develop and maintain services in the management, assessment and education for patients, their family/carers and staff.
Main duties of the job
JOB SUMMARY: The post holder will provide a specialist role within the Neurology Team in accordance with any policies or protocols. They will support patients and healthcare professionals by delivering direct nursing care and providing education locally and nationally. The post holder will carry out clinics both with the consultant and autonomously.
The post holder will be part of a regional network supporting patients across their pathways. The post holder will be required to support accurate and frequent audit to assess the impact of this role and the Neurology Department.

Clinical Nurse Specialist Epilepsy
Band 7
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse who is passionate about providing excellent care and services for people who live with Epilepsy.
You will have significant post registration experience, and knowledge of Epilepsy and seizures as well as a willingness to learn and a positive, can do attitude. Working within a multi-professional environment, the role will challenge you to push forward, be an innovator in your field and act as a role model for standards of care through clinical practice.
You will be the professional clinical link between all areas of care for individuals with Epilepsy and provide care and support for patients from diagnosis through to ongoing treatment and care. You will provide excellent teaching experience and the chance to contribute to local clinical networks. Qualifications
* Recognised teaching qualification
* Evidence of continuing Professional Development
* A Knowledge of Epilepsy and the different seizures
* Recognised Neuroscience qualification
* Educated to a degree level or equivalent experience
Knowledge
* Experience of working in an acute setting
* Knowledge of the needs of patients and the key issues relating to management of Epilepsy
* Demonstrates an understanding of Multidisciplinary issues and a commitment to MDT working
* Demonstrates an understanding of clinical governance and evidence based practice.
* Knowledge of current professional issues and their impact on practice
* Previous experience within a Specialist Nurse role
