Social Work Assistant – Unpaid Work, Justice Social Work
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Unpaid Work Team in Justice Social Work for part time Social Work Assistant to undertake Case Manager duties.
Based in the Auchintibber Resource Centre, Blantyre, the Unpaid Work Team provides work placements for individuals subject to Community Payback Orders (CPOs) containing Unpaid Work and Other Activity Requirements imposed by the Court. The role of the Case Manager – which is a Social Work Assistant grade post – is to supervise individuals subject to CPOs on behalf of the Court. This involves ensuring individuals are provided with the support and monitoring required to complete their Unpaid Work for the benefit of the community while also promoting longer term desistance from offending. It involves direct work with service users; carrying out assessments and written reports provided to the Court and collaborating with other agencies on a regular basis.
This is a fast paced, challenging and highly rewarding working environment. The successful candidate will have a strong value base with a non-judgemental approach and a commitment to working with marginalised groups. They will be able to build productive relationships with individuals in conflict with the law; have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong administrative and recording skills. They will have a pro-active approach to problem solving and be able to work autonomously and as part of a team. The Unpaid Work Service runs seven days a week, and therefore some of the available posts will only be available for those able to work at least one weekend day. There is some flexibility on work pattern that can be discussed at or prior to interview.
The successful candidate should have an HNC or other relevant equivalent qualification in health and social care. Applicants should be willing to undertake any necessary training required for the role.
