Infrastructure Engineer (DV Security Clearance)

Your future duties and responsibilities
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Virtualisation Engineer to join a hybrid client/ CGI team. The candidate must hold a current higher level clearance and be able to work on client site in central London 5 days a week.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and sustaining virtualised infrastructures to support and decommission two critical IT platforms built on Cisco FlexPod CVD patterns. This role requires a deep understanding of various virtualisation technologies and platforms, as well as the ability to work efficiently within a structured project management framework.
Key Responsibilities:
• Virtualisation Infrastructure Management: Oversee the maintenance, performance, and reliability of virtualised environments using VMWare, HyperV, and Horizon View. Ensure optimal operation and uptime of virtualised systems.
• Platform Decommissioning: Lead efforts to decommission legacy IT platforms with minimal disruption to services. Ensure data integrity and compliance with organisational standards during the decommissioning process.
• Task Package Execution: Work on task packages allocated on a 10-week cadence from a backlog of deliverables. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
• Project Alignment: Align task execution with organisational-wide PI Planning cadences. Participate in PI Planning sessions to understand priorities, plan workloads, and contribute to the continuous improvement of planning processes.
• Container Orchestration: Manage containerised applications and services using Kubernetes (K8S, K3S, EKS, AKS, GKS). Ensure the scalability, security, and efficiency of container orchestration platforms.
• Hardware Platform Management: Maintain and optimise HP server platforms to support virtualisation infrastructure. Perform routine hardware maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Automation and Scripting: Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline virtualisation management tasks. Utilise scripting languages to automate routine operations and enhance system efficiency.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Virtualisation Expertise: Proficient in VMWare, HyperV, and Horizon View. Extensive experience in managing and optimising virtualised environments.
• Containerisation Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8S, K3S, EKS, AKS, GKS) and container orchestration best practices.
• Hardware Proficiency: Strong knowledge of HP server platforms and experience in hardware management and troubleshooting.
• Automation Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation and task efficiency.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure virtualised environments comply with security policies and regulations. Implement best practices for security and regularly review systems for vulnerabilities.
• Project Management: Experience working within structured project management frameworks and aligning with organisational PI Planning cadences.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
