Street Scene Apprentice

Age related minimum wage
£6.40 - £11.44 per hour depending on age
Site based
37 hours per week, including one day each week apprenticeship course
Temporary for up to 2 years
We have an exciting opportunity for a keen and enthusiastic individual who enjoys practical outdoor work and has an interest in horticulture to join our Street Scene team as an apprentice.
On-site you will receive practical training in a full range of grounds maintenance and cleansing duties under the supervision of a service team leader.
As part of the apprenticeship programme, you will be required to attend Rodbaston College, Penkridge, on a day release basis to attain a Level 2 Horticulture & Landscape Operative qualification.
The successful candidate will have a minimum GCSE grade D, or Functional Skills 1, or Level 3 in Maths and English.
On this course you have the opportunity to gain:
• Landscaping, pruning and propagation skills
• A knowledge of common plants, shrubs, weeds and trees
• Practical knowledge on hedge cutters, strimmer’s, blowers and hand-held tools
• PA1 & PA6 Safe Use of Pesticides and Handheld Applicator qualification
• Emergency First Aid at Work qualification
