Requirements
Pre-Employment Checks
If successful, employment is conditional on satisfactory completion of checks including medical screening, two references (one from your most recent employer), verification of qualifications, and eligibility to work in the UK. Registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS) and a PVG check for Regulated Work with Children are also required.
Registration and PVG Scheme
Applicants for permanent posts must be registered with GTCS. Details at: www.gtcs.org.uk. As this post involves Regulated Work with Children under the PVG Scheme (Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007), applicants must not be barred from working with children. Successful candidates will need PVG Scheme membership, which costs £59, or a Record Update at £18. The costs will be deducted from salary over several pay periods. If employment ends before full repayment, the remaining balance will be deducted from the final salary.
Disclosure of Criminal Convictions
Applicants must disclose any unspent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Disclosures should be sent confidentially to the Employment and Reward Manager. Failure to disclose may result in withdrawal of the job offer. Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify you; suitability depends on the nature and circumstances of the offence.
