Senior Bridge Engineer
Carrington West are working with a leading organisation seeking a talented Senior Bridge Engineer to oversee the development and implementation of bridge maintenance strategies. The Role
As Senior Bridge Engineer, you'll take ownership of key responsibilities, including:
1. Leading a robust programme of bridge inspections and assessments, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and best practices.
2. Developing and delivering a data-driven maintenance programme for highway structures.
3. Providing technical approval and guidance on new builds, maintenance works, and drainage projects.
4. Acting as a subject matter expert, representing the organisation in court or other technical forums when required.
5. Mentoring and managing the Infrastructure Team, fostering professional development and operational excellence.
6. Representing the organisation at regional and national best practice groups, staying ahead of legislative and industry developments.
7. Conducting audits to ensure adherence to prescribed maintenance standards and guidelines.
What You'll Need
Experience:
1. Proven track record in bridge construction, maintenance, and design.
2. Strong expertise in tendering, contracting, and auditing construction works.
3. Experience in delivering bridge inspections and assessments at a senior level.
Skills & Knowledge:
1. Extensive understanding of the Highways Act, Eurocodes, DMRB, and bridge maintenance best practices.
2. Ability to plan, programme, and budget tasks independently.
3. Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
Qualifications:
1. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
2. Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration.
3. CSCS certification (desirable).
