Job Vacancy: Agricultural Business Analyst
Location: Penrith, Cumbria
Salary: £28,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Are you interested in designing and shaping projects to help drive farm sustainability improvements? Map of Ag is an innovative agricultural data business, working with food processors, brands and retailers across the food industry to help them measure and improve environmental sustainability on their supplying farms.
To help deliver for our growing client base, we’re looking to recruit a new Agricultural Business Analyst. The successful person will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, then developing clear product specifications for the internal technology team to implement. They will be working on industry leading projects with Map of Ag’s customers, for example measuring greenhouse gas emissions across six supply chains for a big-four UK supermarket, or verifying a range of regenerative agricultural practices for a major global grain buyer.
Job Role
As an Agricultural Business Analyst you’ll be responsible for the following areas:
* Facilitating and leading workshops and design sessions with the customer, in order to draw out the needs of the technology platform to meet the customer’s objectives.
* Translating commercial needs gathered from the customer into detailed requirements, that can be understood internally by the technology team, and use this to build clear documented specifications for the technology team to work from.
* Covering a range of different technology requirements, including farm data collection pages, farm and customer reports, data integration functionality or software farm decision tools.
* Assigning priorities to different components of work based on the understanding of key needs from the customer.
* Providing ongoing clarity and direction to the development teams to ensure they work effectively and deliver the outcomes desired.
* Reviewing existing products, and making recommendations for how improvements could be made to improve user experience and internal efficiency.
* Supporting the sales and pre-sales process where required, including understanding potential new customer needs, then working with the technology team to scope out the work involved to deliver this.
Key Skills
To be successful in this role, the following skills will be required:
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with other team members and clients, both face to face and remotely.
* Experience and/or understanding of working in agile software development teams, including software development methodologies and requirements management tools.
* Demonstrated ability to identify and translate business requirements into clear and concise user stories and/or functional and non-functional requirements.
* Good attention to detail, with a desire to ensure product quality is to an excellent standard at all times.
* Familiarity with Office 365 tools, and collaborative solutions such as Azure Devops, Trello, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or similar.
* Possess the drive to help grow the business, including willingness to turn a hand to multiple tasks and situations which may sometimes be outside the usual job specification.
* Experience within the agri-food sector is highly desirable, however training would be provided around farming and the food value chain, and terminology where required.
Further Details
This role is based in Map of Ag’s Penrith office. Occasional travel may be required to visit customers, however this would be infrequent.
The role would report to the Head of Client Services, and form part of Map of Ag’s customer delivery team, who are all based in the Penrith office.
