About the role Do you love driving? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to learn to become a professional LGV driver with the John Lewis Partnership. We’ll give you all the training you need to kick-start your driving career. You’ll gain the licence you need to do the job and secure a permanent driving role with us at the end of your Apprenticeship. At a glance This role is based out of our John Lewis Distribution Centre in Magna Park, Milton Keynes. This is a permanent role and the salary is £12.45ph rising to £15.15 plus the appropriate shift premium on gaining your CE licence with the scheme. On completion of the apprenticeship ( End Point / Gateway) your hourly rate will increase to £18.20. We are recruiting now for start dates : August 2025 and October 2025 Please be aware the assessments will take place week commencing 12th May 2025 at our Magna Park Distribution Centre in Milton Keynes. During the apprenticeship your working hours will be 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with flexibility to work around our 24hr shifts when necessary, to gain valuable driving experience. On successful completion of the Apprenticeship programme, you will move to a 47.5 hour contract. Shifts are based on any 5 from 7 days and will include weekend working. About the role Although much of the training will be flexible and tailored to your individual needs, there is an overall structure to the Apprenticeship Scheme: You’ll start with an induction day which will introduce you to the Apprenticeship Programme. You will work alongside a driver mentor who will be an experienced member of the driving team. They will support you throughout the programme and help you put into practice what you learn. Your People Manager and your Apprentice Trainer from TRS ( Apprentice training company) will be working with you and supporting you during your Apprenticeship journey. You will need to be self-motivated to drive your own learning and meet targets as this will be key to a successful completion of the programme. As part of the scheme, you will be working towards and acquiring the required licences for your role. Please note that if you are successful at securing one of our LGV Apprenticeship roles, you will need to pass a separate medical test before starting in the role. If unsuccessful in this medical test you will be withdrawn from the process. Essential skills you’ll need Due to the nature of the role (including the delivery and handling of age restricted items) you do need to be 18 or over at the start of the scheme and you should hold a full UK Cat B or C1 CLEAN driving licence.
