Job summary We are excited to announce this new clinical psychologist post working within the CAMHs learning disability services. The role is based within one of London borough of Merton's most established schools for children with diverse and wide-ranging needs with learning disabilities and mental illness/ challenging behaviour, ages 5-19. The post holder will work within a specific timetable involving consultation, parenting support, multi-agency liaison and individual therapeutic interventions. The work will include assessing and understanding complex and challenging behaviour/mental health, understanding and implementing positive behavioural approaches and therapeutic strategies, providing recommendations and reviewing these with the child/young person, family and network. This post sits within the CAMHS LD team ensuring clinical supervision and management from an experienced team. Children and young people referred to the Learning Disability service have moderate to profound learning disabilities compounded by trauma, mental health difficulties and/or complex and challenging behaviour. Main duties of the job The post combines direct clinical work with children and families with consultation to CAMHS, teaching staff, social workers and others. The work will include assessing and understanding complex and challenging behaviour, mental health, trauma work, developing positive behavioural approaches, direct work with children and young people.
