An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 5 or existing Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the expanding Frailty Service.
Frailty Services at George Eliot Hospital are undergoing a huge service development project and Therapy services continue to expand their workforce to meet this challenge.
In joining this team you will have the opportunity to be involved in the service development within frailty and be a part of the Therapy Team delivering care across front door frailty and a dedicated Frailty Unit.
The successful candidate will join a team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy assistants working alongside an MDT including Consultants, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Physician Associates.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake assessments, clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with a diagnosis of Frailty. These patients often have complex and / or chronic presentations.
* Work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a significant specialist clinical caseload, working without direct supervision.
* Take a role in supervision and teaching of junior qualified therapists and assistants.
* Demonstrate leadership skills and contribute to service development and monitoring of standards of practice.
* Work flexibly over a 7 day period, as the service requires.

Person Specification
Experience & Knowledge
* Minimum 18 months to 2 years post-graduate experience.
* Previous experience in a specialist clinical area.
* Band 5 rotational experience.
* Supervisory experience.
* Contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff.
* Previous Acute NHS experience.
Qualifications & Professional Training
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Registration with HCPC.
* Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent attendance at relevant post-graduate courses.
* BAOT.
* Involvement/membership in Special Interest Group.
Skills & Abilities
* Understanding of clinical governance.
* Importance of application of clinical governance in clinical area.
* Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, coordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information.
* Able to prioritise and organise own workload.
* Able to cope with a range of complex options, find solutions, analyse, compare and decide on appropriate course of action.
* Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* IT skills - computer literate in email, Word & PowerPoint.
