We are looking for someone who has an excellent track record in their field and is able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong leadership and communication skills will also be required, as the successful applicant will be expected to join an established team of Consultant Respiratory Physicians and support, deliver, and develop the lung cancer service and the Targeted Lung Health Program at Salford Royal Hospital as part of the Northern Care Alliance in collaboration with our partners within the Northwest Manchester Lung Cancer Sector.
The successful candidate will be expected to have an ongoing commitment to teaching both undergraduates and postgraduates.
Salford Royal Hospital is a large teaching hospital (over 3,600 staff) and is a centre of excellence providing specialist and tertiary services on a sub-regional, regional and supra-regional basis. The successful candidate will join 8 WTE Respiratory consultants each of whom has sub-specialty interests.
The post holder will provide respiratory services across the Northern Care Alliance together with the existing post-holders, including supporting Respiratory Support. The successful candidate will provide clinical sessions in Respiratory Medicine and contribute to the delivery and development of the lung cancer service and the Salford Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) Programme.
Targeted Lung Health Checks (TLHC), for the delivery of lung cancer screening, are an integral component of the NHSE Long Term Plan. The GM TLHC service is delivered across MFT and NCA through collaborative working. The NCA TLHC diagnostic pathway maximises efficiency by offering bundled diagnostics at Oldham and Salford CDCs to ensure as few visits as possible for patients.
Experience in Local Anaesthetic Thoracoscopy is favourable. The successful candidate is also expected to be skilled in performing EBUS, and to contribute to once weekly EBUS session at Fairfield General Hospital.
