Reporting to an Engineering Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch of the JDO, as our next electrical engineer, you will play a vital role in reviewing and approving engineering queries from the site Contractor concerning the electrical scope across CI/BOP and Nuclear Island buildings. While the primary focus will be on the electrical discipline, this role requires close collaboration with other disciplines and key stakeholders, including main contractors, sub-suppliers, construction teams, quality assurance, and project management. Your work will ensure that engineering standards are maintained across multiple areas of the project.

What you will be doing
As a key contributor within the project team, you will be responsible for addressing various technical and engineering challenges that arise from the MEH Contractor on-site, ensuring that all responses and actions align with nuclear safety, environmental regulations, and project objectives. The role involves close collaboration with designers, site experts, and external organisations to resolve issues efficiently while managing technical risks and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
1. Respond to general queries, non-conformances, change requests, and exemption requests from the MEH Contractor with support from the Responsible Designer or site experts as needed.
2. Provide oversight to ensure nuclear safety and environmental regulation requirements are met.
3. Challenge design decisions to align engineering and design with project strategy.
4. Assist in coordinating support from external organisations.
5. Contribute to the resolution and closure of open points.
6. Assess and address technical risks.
7. Maintain strong relationships with EDF EPR Engineering (Responsible Designer).
8. Report operationally to an Engineering Lead.
Who you are
While a degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline would be beneficial, though not essential, we’re looking for you to possess significant experience in electrical design, installation, and commissioning, along with the ability to apply multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry. You will be familiar with industry standards, health and safety legislation, and have a strong capability to work independently while influencing key stakeholders. Additional requirements we’re looking for also include:
9. Proficient in electrical design, installation, and commissioning
10. Knowledge of construction, installation, and Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements
11. Proactive, independent approach with the ability to escalate and report issues
12. Ability to challenge design decisions to ensure alignment with project strategy
13. Coordination of external support as needed
14. Contribution to the resolution and closure of Open Points
15. Assessment and mitigation of technical risk
