What's the job?
Looking to step away from frontline childcare – but still want to make a difference?
Maybe you’ve been working in a nursery or managing a team, and feeling the strain – constant staffing challenges, growing SEND responsibilities, low morale, long hours, and barely any time off. Or perhaps you’ve run your own childminding business and know first-hand the pressure of working solo while juggling everything from paperwork to parent relationships.
You’ve worked hard, and you know what goes into running great childcare and supporting families – because you’ve lived it. Now, you’re ready to use that knowledge in a different way. This role lets you step out of the daily stress while still making a real difference, offering support to others starting out, with more variety, more balance, and space to breathe.
In this role, you’ll mentor new and existing childminders build their businesses in a way that works for them and their families. You’ll be their sounding board, their support system, and sometimes their cheerleader. You’ll also work with parents to help them understand their options and access the care they need. It’s the kind of role where you still get to make a difference — with a little less pressure, more meaningful conversations, and the space to make a different kind of difference.
You’ll still have to be organised, and yes, there’s admin — but it’s the kind that actually helps people. This is a close-knit team that rolls up its sleeves and helps each other out. You’ll be part of a small team where everyone pitches in, and people are trusted to get on with their work and bring their own ideas to the table.
Day to day you'll:
* Mentor new childminders through the registration process and beyond
* Offer advice on things like setting fees, finding families, and using early years funding
* Talk with parents to help them find childcare that works for their family
* Keep track of progress, follow up where needed, and help remove barriers
* Use our systems to log info, manage admin and stay organised
* Jump in with other tasks when the team needs it
You’ll suit this role if you:
* Have experience in childcare, early years recruitment or family services
* Understand how childcare works as a business (or have built one yourself)
* Can explain things clearly, calmly and kindly
* Are confident speaking with people on the phone, over video or in writing
* Know how to manage your time, stay organised and follow things through
* Are comfortable with computers and willing to learn new systems
* Have at least a Level 3 (A-level or equivalent), ideally with an Early Years qualification
* Have a car and licence (there’s occasional travel)
What you’ll get:
* A chance to step away from the frontline while still being rooted in the values that brought you into childcare in the first place.
* Earn £28k+ dependent on experience & qualifications (rising to £30K after probation).
* 33 days of holiday (including bank holidays)
* Some flexibility to work from home whilst managing your own workload
* A stable role with the potential to grow with the business
* The chance to support and empower women building their own businesses
* A team that cares and looks out for each other
* The opportunity to travel worldwide through our sister company's Turing Scheme
* Extensive CPD & qualification opportunities
