We’re looking for someone who excels in customer service and can work efficiently in a busy environment to join our reception team, working at our Lytham Road and Goosnargh branches.
Oakhill Veterinary Centre is looking for an enthusiastic receptionist to join our team. The position is 18 hours per week, working at our Lytham Road branch Wednesday, 8am – 7pm, and at our Goosnargh branch Friday, 12pm – 7pm.
Our reception teams are the first and often last point of contact that our patients and clients have – fulfilling a vital role in the success of our team by ensuring an exceptional customer journey.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
1. Welcome customers and their pets for appointments with a compassionate and professional attitude.
2. Book appointments for customers who need to see a vet or vet nurse.
3. Take payments, register new customers, and answer customers’ questions.
4. Answer the telephone, direct calls to the appropriate people, and take messages.
5. Monitor company inbox and respond to emails.
6. Handle medication prepared by the vets and hand it to customers.
7. Work within your team (and at times alone) to ensure the reception and waiting area are maintained to a high standard.
8. Deal with worried or upset clients and connect them to the appropriate help.
9. Carry out photocopying, typing of letters, scanning, and filing on and offline.
10. Complete any other ad-hoc tasks as required (within your capabilities).
The person we are looking for:
1. Proven experience in a receptionist position or similar role. Experience within a veterinary business would be an advantage.
2. Experience in using Microsoft Office with typing skills and administrative knowledge with an eye for detail is essential.
3. Able to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of customer service and completing all tasks to a high standard.
4. An excellent telephone manner and strong communication skills.
5. Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
6. Ideally has some basic animal knowledge and a friendly, positive, proactive, and committed attitude.
