Governance Lead - Independent Governance Committee Salary circa £80,000 (National), circa £90,000 (London) Aviva's Independent Governance Committee (IGC) is responsible for assessing the value for money offered to the firm's Workplace Pensions and Investment Pathways customers. Their remit spans over 5 million contract-based customers and £100bn of assets under management. The purpose of the role is to help the Committee achieve and maintain a strong governance framework by providing insight and adding value, driving key activities and ultimately improving outcomes for Aviva's workplace pension members. You will act as a trusted adviser to the IGC and support the Committee's Chair, ensuring the provision of quality MI and governance documentation to enable them to discharge their regulatory responsibilities as set out in FCA rules. You will provide support and advice on a range of topics to assist the IGC in reaching their conclusions on Value for Money and will represent the IGC on projects delivering the single Value for Money framework. A bit about the job: To be successful in this role, you will have an understanding of the key governance controls critical to the IGC, with a focus on quality and timeliness. In this position your duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Achieving and maintaining a robust governance framework in line with FCA requirements and industry best practice. Be the main point of contact with members of the IGC for queries and requests, and liaising with a range of stakeholders - this will include the Chair and members of the IGC, Heads of all main business areas, company secretariat, the Life Board and other internal and external parties with regular and ad hoc roles supporting the IGC - ensuring the right people are communicated with at the right time to support decision making and achievement of regulatory deadlines. Creating and maintaining the IGC's annual Business Plan setting out the activities to be undertaken for the year and driving the creation and publication of the IGC's annual report, ensuring key stakeholders are conversant with any challenges raised by the Committee. Supporting the strategic direction of the IGC, driving key focus areas and their prioritisation. Ownership of the Forward Agenda Planner, Terms of Reference and Agenda's for IGC meetings and site visits and review. Prepare and review papers for Committee meetings, then review and amend IGC meeting minutes as appropriate prior to sharing with the Chair. Collaborative approach internally and with outsourced partners Skills and experience we're looking for: Member oriented and a subject matter expert in pensions governance with experience of working with DC pension schemes. Forward and outward looking approach to governance and industry developments, with the desire to improve existing practices and innovate. Organisation skills/experience in leading complex projects/reviews with a high-level of attention to detail and accuracy while also being proactive with the ability to prioritise workload, to work on own initiative and remain calm under pressure. Excellent communication skills and good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with others including independent members of the IGC and senior stakeholders.
