At Rototek, we have established ourselves as a global leader in technical rotational moulding of plastics - with over 30 years of experience providing innovative rotational moulded products, we manufacture the products no one else can. Rototek employs over 100 people, across 2 sites and has a current turnover in excess of £10M, with a strategic growth plan in place to support business growth. We are seeking a driven, experienced operations manager for our site in Newark to work as part of the senior management team and drive business growth through efficient operations.
JOB SUMMARY - Working as part of the Senior Management team, the key responsibility of this role is to manage the production, finishing and dispatch facility at the Newark Factory. This role involves the day-to-day management of staff in relation to operational activities along with associated financial and budgetary responsibilities in relation to cost-effective operations. Overseeing H&S on a day-to-day basis in regard to production staff and their activities, working collaboratively with the Rototek H&S Officer. Ensuring good housekeeping and Health and Safety legislation and company procedures are always adhered to.
Providing a support function to the Operations Director and Managing Director where required, ensuring accurate and effective reporting and efficient delivery of assigned projects. Management of stock levels, keeping levels to a minimum, but ensuring parts are ordered and available for production, managing time and resources effectively and in the most cost-effective way for the business.
Qualifications
Desirable qualifications:
* NVQ Level 3 in team management or equivalent.
* NVQ L3 or equivalent in performing manufacturing operations (or Similar).
* IOSH.

* Good understanding of a manufacturing setting - Essential
* Experience within a £10-15M business or £10-25M business over multiple sites in a relevant industry - Essential
* Rotational moulding or plastic manufacturing experience - Essential
* Strong commercial and operational knowledge - Essential
* A high level of Health & Safety knowledge with an understanding of 5s & Lean - Essential
* Previous production planning experience - Essential
* Outstanding People Management skills, effective communication at all levels - Essential
* Experienced in managing multiple teams across multiple shift patterns - Desirable
* Change Management skills - Essential
* Problem solving, analytical and an eye for detail to ensure all products are produced to the highest standard - Essential

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Objectives:
* Management of production across the site and all associated staff. Overseeing production planning activities and communicating effectively with Supervisors and other managers to ensure targets are achieved.
* Ensuring all production orders and associated paperwork is completed and is accurate and informative.
* Oversee new product project production, instructing staff on production plans, working to resolve any issues with the specification, reporting back productively with feedback to the design team. Working closely with the Quality Manager to ensure that new products are meeting the standards and implementing changes where required.
* Effectively communicate day to day instructions, by way of team briefs and regular conversations to team leaders & supervisors for effective time management and to meet production deadlines.
* Effectively communicate to ensure customer requirements are met, liaising with customers, design and tool makers for new projects.
* Stock and budget control for production related operations and maintenance, reporting effectively to the Directors. Signing off of purchase related activities including invoice authorisation.
* Maintaining an overview of the training and associated administration for all staff, ensuring compliance on all mandatory training, delivery of training or updates where necessary. Signing off probationary periods for new employees, supporting managers with performance related issues.
* Playing a key part in any machine improvements, factory layout changes or facility upgrades to ensure that the factory can run with minimal disruption.
* Planning of maintenance shutdowns and management of the maintenance team to ensure efficient running of the factory and reduced downtime.
* Management of the 5s system, ensuring the effectiveness of the system across the site is having the desired output, implementing changes where required to ensure a clean work environment.
* Liaison with external suppliers, contractors and other specialists in relation to site facilities, ensuring standards are maintained and the employee and business needs are being met.
* Recording and monitoring of energy usage, assessing alternative options and making suggestions for continually working to reduce costs and environmental impacts.
* To promote a positive working atmosphere, encouraging and supporting employee development.
* Ensuring all staff within the different departments are adhering to legislation and company procedures. Overseeing the Team Leaders and supervisors to encourage their management tasks in relation to staff are completed to a high standard.
Package Details:
· Salary £60k per annum, Paid monthly on the last working day of each month.
· You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week, working hours will be 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am – 3.00pm on a Friday. Some flexibility is required to meet business needs.
· 25 days annual leave per year plus bank holidays. This increases by 1 day after 2 full years completed service, then another day after 4 years and another day after 6 years service – up to a maximum of 28 days plus bank holidays. Days are deducted annually from leave for a full business closure at Christmas.
· Pension contribution is 4% employee and 3% employer.
· Death in Service benefit.
