What we are looking for We are looking for a qualified Carpenter to join our Housing Repairs and Maintenance Team. You will share our values, commitment and motivation to make a difference for our districts. About the role Based from our Depot at Great Wenham, you will work in the Babergh and Mid Suffolk Districts on a wide range of carpentry repairs associated with the maintenance of council homes. This is an opportunity to join the councils new dynamic housing repairs team. You will be responsible for undertaking high-quality reactive works across our 7000 occupied properties. Key duties will include: reactive repairs to council houses in accordance with orders/ instructions from our technical admin team via an electronic remote working system identifying, collecting and using the correct materials, plant and equipment for the identified repairs providing information as required regarding repairs undertaken to our Technical Administrative Team participation in the out-of-hours call rota. A van (for work use only) is provided equipped with a range of tools, and in addition, a tool allowance is paid. About you You will have gained a minimum of NVQ Level 2 in carpentry (or equivalent) and will demonstrate experience in a wide range of carpentry repairs. In addition to your carpentry skills you will need to have a focused customer service approach, excellent communication skills and be adaptable and resourceful when working in the team or independently across the districts. You should be able to demonstrate the following: a sound knowledge of construction practice and related trade technology awareness of Health and Safety at Work Act, practice and responsibility computer literate and able to use email and mobile devices ability to maintain accurate work records ability to diagnose and effect the most cost-effective repair solution experience in domestic responsive property repairs. A full valid driving licence is essential for this role. A DBS check will also be required.
