Our client, a successful and reputable housing development company, is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team. We are committed to quality, sustainability, and delivering exceptional homes.
As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in managing project costs, ensuring efficiency, and delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Cost Management: Prepare and manage cost budgets, Predicted Final Accounts (PFA), and financial tracking to ensure projects stay within budget.
* Tendering & Procurement: Prepare tender packages, analyse subcontractor quotations, and lead pre-let interviews to select the best contractors.
* Subcontractor Management: Oversee orders, monthly valuations, payments, and variations while maintaining strict cost control.
* Value Engineering: Collaborate with design and construction teams to identify cost-saving solutions without compromising on quality.
* Reporting: Provide regular reports on costs, cash flow, and budget forecasts, identifying potential overruns early.
* Team Leadership: Mentor junior team members, supporting their growth and helping build a strong Quantity Surveying team.

The Person
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor who possesses:
* Proven experience in quantity surveying within the construction sector, ideally with a focus on residential housing developments.
* A strong track record of effectively managing costs across multiple projects.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and subcontractors.
* Leadership experience to mentor junior staff and help grow a dynamic team.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, accredited by RICS or equivalent.
* At least 5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally within residential housing developments.
* Line management experience.
Desirable Skills & Qualities:
* Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex information simply.
* Ability to confidently handle negotiations with external bodies, including subcontractors.
* Strong numerical and data analysis skills.
* Proficiency in IT, including advanced Excel skills and design/costing software.
* Teamwork skills and resilience under pressure.
* Practical, logical approach with attention to detail.
