Hours: Part time, 18.5 hours per week
Location of post: Mobile Hybrid Worker (Civic Centre, Port Talbot / hybrid working)

We are currently looking for a Special Projects Officer to join our team.
We are looking for an individual with a passion for learning, a proactive approach to developing skills and knowledge and is inquisitive about issues and developments in both local government and the wider world.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Director of Strategy & Corporate Services in the undertaking of specific project / research work, in the first instance to include providing communications support to the delivery of the Future of Work Strategy.
As part of the role you will also support the arrangements for events including conferences, video conferences and seminars.
Working with elected members, senior officers and staff from both within the Council and partner organisations will be a key part of your work, so you will need excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively in a high pressured environment.
The main duties of the post;
1. planning, delivery and completion of special projects
2. preparation of high level strategic briefing papers and reports
3. preparation of presentations
4. preparation of agendas and taking and distributing notes of high level and complex meetings for the Senior Management Team, following up any action points
5. producing, and responding to, complex/confidential correspondence
You will have experience in/of;
6. project management
7. planning, delivery and completion of special projects
8. primary and secondary research (using credible methodologies and data sources)
9. preparing high level strategic briefing papers, reports and presentations, and
10. high level knowledge of a wide range of diverse local government and other public services, and
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent.
