Job Description:
Are you interested in Signalling & Telecoms? Do you enjoy hands-on problem solving and fixing electrical problems? Are you passionate about ensuring passengers get from location A to B safely? Then this might be a role for you!
We are looking to recruit for a Signalling & Telecoms Team Leader to be based out of Worcester Depot.
About the role (External)
Signalling & Telecoms (S&T) offers a dynamic and diverse role that combines both electrical and mechanical engineering skills. There is a variety in tasks, from using electronic testing equipment to measuring critical electrical parameters, to working with mechanical systems that guide trains, ensuring that no two days are the same.
You will be working on tasks such as:
1. Electrical measurements: Using advanced testing equipment to check the performance of signalling systems and ensure everything is running safely.
2. Mechanical work: Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical components, like the systems that control train directions, adds a hands-on, practical element to the role.
As a Team Leader, you'll direct, organise and motivate a high-performing team, liaising with management teams and other departments/companies. From inspection and faulting through to maintenance and renewal, you'll play a hands-on role, ensuring everything is done efficiently and to the relevant standards and controls.
You'll have experience of establishing the relevant safety arrangements for tasks and ensure that Network Rail staff and contractors follow safe systems of work. Proactively controlling and checking the quality of work and the competence of your people, you’ll ensure that assets are fully compliant with maintenance standards and that all vehicles, plant, tools, equipment, and materials are safe & fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
* Experience of arranging and implementing safe systems of work.
* Experience of organising and controlling the safe and efficient delivery of work.
* Able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
* Able to lead, motivate and direct a team.
* Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
* Knowledge and experience of signalling inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques.
* Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions.
* Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post, required by business need.
* Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience.
* Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
This role involves days, nights, and weekend working, and is a safety-critical role subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment.
You must live within a 60-minute commute time from the depot which is advertised.
