We are working with a Local Authority in the Oxfordshire region looking for a permanent 5+ PQE Commercial Contracts and Procurement Solicitor to join their department.

The role offers a salary of £49,590 – £52,658 (DOE) and an excellent benefits package. This is a full – time position with the council operating on a flexible working environment.
About the position:
Commercial Lawyers are expected to undertake the following duties:
* Provide legal advice in relation to commercial, contracts and procurement law adhering to the Legal Services Core Competencies Framework
* To manage and provide advice on your own caseload of varied complex matters with minimal supervision
* To deputise for the Senior Lawyers and support junior legal colleagues in their work if required
* To act as a senior and specialist legal advisor and support a significant portfolio of work which directly delivers on the Council’s key priorities and areas of risk
* To Undertake complex proceedings on behalf of the council with minimal supervision including complex advocacy work where required
* Work closely with Elected Members and Directorate and Corporate teams as required to provide strategic support
About you:
The successful Commercial Lawyer will be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX of England and Wales with a current practising certificate. Good knowledge of commercial law, contract law and procurement legislations and practices are essential. You will be ambitious, a team player, driven by delivering a high-quality service, and have a positive attitude towards building relationships with social workers and your wider team. It is important that anyone joining the council is committed to this area of law and has a genuine enthusiasm for the work. The ability to work under pressure is imperative, be self-motivated, and able to work to deadlines.

Previous commercial local authority experience is desirable. You will also need to be comfortable undertaking some advocacy.
