Introduction:
A Direct Payments recipient in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Female Personal Assistant (this is claimed under the exemption Equality Act 2020 section 21). As part of your role you will support a vibrant young lady as she enjoys life, explores her local community and meets new people. Experience working with young people who have physical and mental disabilities is essential. This post is funded through the Direct Payments which is funded by the local authority. This scheme is intended to enable this young Lady and his family to manage her support independently by employing her own personal assistant.
The main duties to be included within this role are to:
• Provide companionship through good interaction and by exploring this young lady’s interests and getting to know what her likes and dislikes are.
• This young Lady enjoys a variety of activities including going for a walk in her wheelchair, going to the beach, shopping in Asda, going out for lunch, looking at the animals in folly farm and Manor house park as well as listening to music.
• Support and encourage this young lady to participate in new, fun and interesting activities that interest her
• Prompt her to try new activities and skills to improve his confidence, abilities and satisfaction.
• Preparation of light snacks or meals may be required. Personal care will be required.
• Ensure this lady’s safety at all times during your working period, constant supervision is required as knowledge of hazards are limited.
• Take this lady on trips in the car.
• Local knowledge of activities available would be advantageous to this post, as the hours worked will be on and off-site within the community.
The client is looking for a Personal Assistant that fits the following person specification:
• Responsible and honest
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Has good local knowledge
• Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
• Good communicator
• Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
Other Requirements:
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
