New Store Opening at Queen St - come and volunteer with the Hospice!!
At the heart of the fundraising activities that enable us to provide excellent patient and family care to the people of Glasgow, lie our 17 Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice shops.
Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is currently looking to fill volunteer roles/shifts in our Brand New Store, opening on Queen St, Glasgow.
Purpose of the role:
Volunteering as a member of our Charity Shops, you will enjoy working within a professional team providing a high-quality retail service. Assisting in the day-to-day running of the shop and meeting agreed performance targets to maximise sales and profitability. You can be talking and serving customers making them feel welcome, creating eye-catching and stylish windows, and displays.
This is an unpaid Volunteering Role for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.
Responsible to:
Shop Manager; Retail Area Manager; Volunteer Services Manager
Activities of the role:
1. To assist and serve customers, providing a service of the highest standard
2. Receive delivery of donations, ensuring gift aid and information is collated
3. To assist with processing stock, including sorting, pricing and hanging of donated items
4. Marketing and presenting merchandise in an attractive and presentable manner to ensure a positive image of the Hospice is maintained
5. To assist the Shop Manager in the rotation of stock with the charity’s other shops
6. If required, be involved with the till operation and handling of cash
7. Replenish and restock shelves when required
8. Sorting donated goods into saleable stock and items for recycling
9. To ensure that the shop premises are always clean and tidy
10. Respond to and resolve customer queries and complaints in person and by telephone
11. Always understanding the importance of confidentiality and maintaining high standards with regard to communicating information in a confidential manner
Skills & Personal qualities:
1. Friendly and welcoming manner with excellent customer service skills
2. Cheerful nature, good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate confidently with the public
3. Are comfortable taking the initiative to approach people and offer assistance
4. Work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
5. Ability to recognise the importance of establishing a good rapport with staff
6. Good literacy and numerical skills and confident in cash handling
7. Willingness to undertake training which will help in your role
8. Smart and neat appearance in line with organisational standards
Time commitment:
Volunteers should be able to make a regular commitment of a minimum of one/two/three-hour shift on a regular basis.
Training:
1. Shop Induction Programme
2. Use of till and card machine
3. Participation in regular meetings and any other opportunities will be advised when they occur
