The post holder is responsible for working to strict safety and quality requirements to support the Technical Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. Promote a culture of working safely by complying with company Health & Safety and environmental standards.
2. Support installations in the facility.
3. Assist the maintenance team with escalated equipment issues.
4. Work within a small team without supervision, reporting directly to the Technical Engineering Manager.
5. Identify and carry out improvements to equipment to enhance quality and/or efficiency.
6. Get involved in other projects/improvements as necessary.
7. Contribute to continuous improvement activities, such as submitting suggestions to improve process flow and increase production cell efficiency or enhance health & safety on the shop-floor.
8. Support 5S activities throughout the shop-floor (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
9. Follow instructions to ensure maximum effectiveness and adhere to safety guidelines.
10. Actively participate in training and development activities for personal and/or team advancement.
11. Be prepared to undertake and support other reasonable requests made by the Technical Engineering Manager.
Skills & Abilities:
1. Previous busy factory/manufacturing experience is desirable.
2. Willingness to multi-skill and learn products and processes.
3. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
4. Ability to problem solve in a logical manner.
5. Robot programming/setup – Nachi/Fanuc; others considered.
6. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
7. Understanding of PLC control methods.
8. Fault finding – understanding electrical wiring drawings and fault finding.
9. Good knowledge of joining technologies – welding, resistance spot welding; other automated joining beneficial.
10. Good PC and time management skills.
11. Must be approachable and flexible.
12. Must be able to complete tasks to completion with additional hours when required.
13. Weekend or off-shift work may be required depending on projects.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Minimum of HNC in a related discipline.
2. Experience and understanding of robotic programming (Nachi, Motorman, Fanuc systems).
3. Understanding of MIG automated welding equipment and setup.
4. Understanding of resistance welding equipment and techniques is advantageous.
5. Experience of working to deadlines and targets.
6. Previous experience in an automation environment is required; automotive experience is advantageous.
7. Must have an excellent time and attendance record.
8. Must have a logical, flexible, and self-motivated approach.
9. Eye for detail.
