About the Role: We’re working with a South London Council to recruit an experienced Repairs Surveyor to join their Housing Property Services team. This role focuses on delivering an effective surveying service, managing responsive repairs, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to residents in both tenanted and communal housing stock. You will carry out pre- and post-inspections, identify complex repairs, monitor contractors, and provide technical advice. This is a key role in supporting repairs compliance and customer satisfaction across the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the delivery of day-to-day responsive maintenance repairs in a designated patch.
2. Carry out physical property inspections (pre- and post-works), including damp & mould assessments.
3. Produce accurate repair specifications and ensure timely and quality completion of works.
4. Monitor contractor performance and resolve disputes and variations.
5. Provide advice and assistance to both technical and non-technical staff.
6. Liaise with residents, contractors, and internal teams to ensure excellent service delivery.
7. Support void property inspections and oversee works to meet lettable standards.
8. Promote safeguarding practices and report concerns when necessary.
9. Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety and housing regulations.
10. Attend contract and team meetings, reporting on contractor performance and work progress.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Strong knowledge of building maintenance and surveying within the housing sector.
2. Previous experience delivering responsive repairs and contractor supervision.
3. Capable of managing complex repairs and compiling technical reports/specifications.
4. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
5. Experience working within local authority or ALMO environments (desirable).
6. HNC/HND or equivalent professional qualification in construction/surveying (preferred).
7. Comfortable with IT systems and mobile working tools.
