Cutting-edge facilities include a centre for brain imaging and extensive laboratories for research in speech and language, development, perception, and cognition. The research fellow will join a vibrant community of academics and graduate students conducting research on reading and language. About the role The salary for the post will be £ 43,124 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. The research fellow will carry out research to address the objectives of the Economic and Social Research Council project grant held by Dr Jo Taylor in the Department of Language and Cognition. This will involve using behavioural and brain imaging measures to quantify how reading experience changes children’s written word representations and how this relates to word spelling and understanding. They should have experience recruiting and testing participants for cognitive neuroscience experiments (e.g., fMRI) and be skilled in using appropriate software packages to analyse behavioural and brain imaging data. The candidate should have a track record of dissemination (published articles, conference presentations). They should demonstrate intellectual curiosity about reading development and an ability to work effectively with children, parents, and schools. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B salary with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of PhD award.
