The Vacancy:
Purpose of the role:
* This role is to control and maintain electroplating and metal finishing solution tanks to achieve the standards set out in the Company Policies, Procedures and Instructions.
* It includes achieving and following the standards as detailed above, paying particular attention to Health, Safety and Welfare standards and Product Quality standards.
* The role includes the day-to-day working with various Chemicals and Solutions and the maintenance and recording of parameters associated with these.
* Routine chemical analysis of solutions/materials and problem solving.
* Production of documents detailing analytical techniques and the keeping of accurate quality records.
* Analysis, maintenance, and improvement of electroplating and metal finishing processes to Amphenol quality standards and timeframes.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Reading and following all relevant documentation and supporting various plating and finishing processes to Company standards.
* Strict adherence to company Process, Manufacturing, and Health and Safety Instructions and Procedures.
* Strict adherence to company Quality Procedures, including product Quality and System Quality.
* Analyse production problems and identify and implement engineered solutions that correct root cause issues.
* Following correct procedures for safe handling of chemicals within the Plating department.
* To pay strict adherence to all health and safety procedures associated with the Plating Department.
* To follow and update COSHH and Risk Assessments.
* To ensure all instructions regarding PPE are strictly adhered to.
* To immediately report any defective PPE to the Line Manager.
* Monitoring and operation of the Wastewater effluent system, including coordination of tankers for removal of hazardous waste.
* Maintain records of all disposals, including analysis of the waste to support IPPC Permit.
* Waste Management – Responsible for coordinating hazardous waste activity on site.
* Shop floor Technical Support – to assist on any plating problems, including the revision of any process instructions as required. Investigation and resolution of any customer returns, implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
* Responsible for plating shop inventory.
* Carry out such other duties that may be reasonably requested.
Person Specification:
* Chemical Degree or HND.
* Some experience/knowledge of industrial electroplating.
* Knowledge of COSHH and environmental permits.
* Methodical approach to process/product improvement and development.
* Able to accommodate a rotating two-shift system.
