James Mackenzie Ward has a fantastic opportunity for a staff Nurse to join its friendly, inclusive team working within a Cardiothoracic internal rotation according to the needs of the service delivery.
You will primarily be required to work as a skilled member of the James Mackenzie /CCU nursing team, assisting in the high provision of care to patients and families including planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient’s care following agreed care pathways.
You will develop and maintain good unit management and organisational skills and assist with the provision of an environment conductive to the education of staff.

Your role will be to provide and maintain the highest possible standard of nursing care for the patient's and their families by ensuring that an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the patients, developing a progressive knowledge and understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology and knowledge of common cardiological conditions their management and treatment along with a basic knowledge of ECG interpretation along with frequently used abbreviations within the speciality.to assist in any non/invasive cardiac procedures e.g. insertion of temporary pacing systems
After a period of supervision you should be able to undertake and deliver education and advice to patients, being able to identify risk factors and life style changes that may influence patient outcomes and be competent in the administration of oral drugs used in the ward environment and to undertake relevant drug administration training to comply with national and Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Trust guidelines control of all drugs at ward level and assist with safe custody, storage and control of all drugs at ward level.
