Job summary We are seeking to recruit a keen, enthusiastic and motivated Neonatal Sister to work within our friendly Neonatal Team of hardworking nurses, who are passionate about providing excellent care for our babies and their parents/carers. This is a permanent post as a Band 6 Sister to coordinate the Neonatal unit. You will need to be RN/RM/RCN and hold QIS/ENB 405 with previous experience of working in a Neonatal Unit plus the commitment and enthusiasm for working in this field. You will be joining a team who work shifts including internal rotation to night duty, weekends and bank holidays. You will need to provide clinical expertise in all aspects of neonatal care, you will also need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. You must have compassion and be able to demonstrate flexible thinking as well as the ability to prioritise a demanding workload. You will need to be able to work with the multidisciplinary team with motivation to strive for excellence in practice. Main duties of the job To function as an competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area. To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing practice. To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty. To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group. To work closely with the ward manager and other members of the multidisciplinary team. To help drive forward evidence based practice in line with national guidance to enhance the care we deliver to these vulnerable infants and their families. About us The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. We are a Level 2 Local Neonatal Unit part of the West Midlands Operational Delivery Network which has 22 cots comprising of 3 intensive care cots, 3 high dependency and 16 special care cots. We provide excellent care for preterm babies from 27 weeks gestation and sick term new born babies. We also provide stabilisation to babies born at a lower gestation and sick babies before transfer out to an NICU. We initiate Therapeutic Cooling and CFM monitoring and are committed todelivering the highest standard of care to our babies and their families.
