Job Description for Support Worker role: Support workers support and assist patients suffering from various mental health conditions in improving their wellbeing. The successful applicant will be required to work on shift basis in a hospital ward or care home as assigned by Nurseline Healthcare. General requirements: You must be comfortable and willing to provide healthcare to clients with mental impairments and emotional problems You must have the ability to deal with clients who present challenging behaviour by reducing their distress and improving their psychological well-being Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours including early and night shifts You must be punctual, reliable and adaptable to the different needs of Nurseline Healthcare’s client You will be required to work in care homes or in hospital wards Ability to work alongside other professionals in multidisciplinary teams in order to tackle complex patient problems as well as an ability to work on your own initiative Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and attempting to understand the source of distress; Apply 'de-escalation' techniques to help people manage their emotions and behaviour; Be available to receive mandatory healthcare training as well as courses around legal and ethical requirements appropriate to mental health patients including The Mental Health Act of 1983 and the Mental Health Act of 2007 Entry Requirements: Essential The successful candidate will be required to attend mandatory training and those without a recent CRB (3 months maximum) are required to undergo enhanced CRB disclosure Good communication skills and an ability to take records Desirable Previous experience of working with people in a social care/support setting NVQ in Health & Social Care level 3 are essential A full enhanced CRB Disclosure (refer to essential requirements above )
