Senior Research Nurse/Senior Research Delivery Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research Delivery Team based in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This part time (0.8WTE) permanent post requires the successful applicant to take a lead role in the successful delivery of a range of studies that reflect the services provided by the Trust.
The post-holder will be a Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional (AHP), Clinical Research Practitioner or hold a relevant academic qualification, with substantial experience of working with NHS and/or social care research. They will be highly motivated, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work sensitively and professionally with research participants, families, colleagues and clinicians. They will have experience working with vulnerable individuals in a range of health and/or social care settings. The post-holder must have well developed knowledge of, and experience in, the delivery of health research, governance, good clinical practice, understanding of information governance and GDPR application to research.
As we work across all services within the Trust, the ability to work with patients and clinicians across different services is essential.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
1. Assisting with feasibility assessments for proposed studies.
2. Facilitating the efficient and safe delivery of a balanced portfolio of research in the Trust and in other organisations as required.
3. Ensuring that portfolio adopted research studies are completed to time and target while ensuring full compliance with Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and national, policies and regulations.
4. Ensuring relevant research opportunities are made accessible to patients.
5. Conducting required assessments and clinical tests within professional scope of practice and/or which they have been appropriately trained.
6. Monitoring and measuring research activity and performance for specific projects.
7. Providing leadership and supervision for less experienced staff.
8. Building relationships across professional and academic boundaries (Trusts, Universities and third sector) to raise awareness of research and increase levels of participation.
9. Deputising for the band 7 Research Delivery Manager as required/appropriate.

Job responsibilities

Contractual Requirements
* Ability to travel.
Qualifications
* RGN/RMN/HCPC registered AHP or other professional or relevant academic qualification at degree level, supplemented by specialist training to diploma level or equivalent.
* Current ICH Good Clinical Practice certificate.
Experience
* Experience of research delivery and methodology.
* A good understanding of mental health and/or physical health and/or social care practice and terminology.
* Experience of working in an NHS or Social Care environment with service user contact or in a forensic setting.
* Experience of running concurrent research studies with minimal supervision according to good clinical practice guidelines.
* Knowledge of research design methods.
* Experience of facilitating medication-based studies.
* Experience of administering mental health assessment scales.
Skills
* Computer skills - competent in use of Microsoft Office applications.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written, with a diverse range of patients, carers, colleagues and clinicians. Able to demonstrate sensitivity and empathy and an awareness of professional boundaries.
* Highly motivated with the ability to work both as part of a team and also on an individual basis.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to establish appropriate documentation and record keeping.
* Ability to manage complex, sensitive information and apply principles of Information Governance and data protection to research.
* Experience managing and supervising others.
* Current clinical skills including phlebotomy, ECG recording, vital signs recording.
