The Lincolnshire Electronic Assistive Technology (EATS) Service provides a specialist service for adults and children with complex physical and/or communication disabilities. Members of the multidisciplinary team carry out assessments, make recommendations and provide equipment and systems which aim to promote independence, participation and improve quality of life. Along with communication devices, the Service provides assessment, provision and maintenance of Environmental Controls (EC) equipment and Advanced Computer Access to Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire residents.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and caring Clinical Technologist to join our multi-disciplinary team of Clinical Technologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a friendly, busy service that covers the East Midlands area.
Please note this position will not commence before June 2025
Main duties of the job
1. To participate in, and support, the multidisciplinary clinical assessment of patients with complex physical disabilities.
2. To assemble, install and commission electronic assistive equipment in patients' homes or for mobile use, to address individual needs for safety, security, communication, control of domestic appliances and environment and access to electronic information systems.
3. To provide ongoing support for patients by providing training, maintaining equipment in good working order and by making any adjustments necessary to meet changing needs.
4. To take an integral part in the development of processes to ensure delivery of a high quality electronic assistive technology service.
5. To participate in ongoing training and development of the service, yourself and your colleagues.

Job responsibilities
1. Assists in the process of multidisciplinary clinical assessment by selecting and providing appropriate electronic assistive equipment and configuring this to test patients' physical, cognitive and sensory abilities.
2. Assists in the technical and clinical assessment of medical devices to be included on the department's preferred product list.
3. Interprets results of a team member's assessment in order to produce a system design to satisfy the patient's prescription in compliance with the EATS team policies and procedures.
4. Investigates and prioritises breakdown reports, making repairs to, or substitution of, failed equipment in a timely manner.
5. Maintains in the patient's Clinical Record sufficient documentation to satisfy the Technical File requirements of the Medical Devices Regulations.
Person Specification
* Suitable degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent experience
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting
* Experience of Environmental Control systems and their applications
* Knowledge of iOS Devices, Android devices, Windows Based Systems and Apple Mac OS.
* Knowledge of communications technologies and their domestic and personal applications
* Able and willing to drive across the service locality
* Safe use of power tools and hand tools
* Experience of the commissioning and maintenance of Environmental Control and Alternative and Augmentative Communication Systems
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
