Transmission Engineer

As a Primary Plant Design Engineer, you'll join our Asset Management HV Plant team, ensuring the design, layout, and configuration of high voltage primary plant that sits inside electricity transmission substations. This includes refurbishment and new installation works for over 300 substations and new build substations across England and Wales. Location is flexible with hybrid working, a mix of home, office, and site.
You will provide technical guidance and support to project teams through the review of all technical drawings and documentation, ensuring the correct application of National Grid and IEC specifications, to guarantee that what suppliers are delivering is to the correct specification and requirements. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement updates to procedures, evaluate technical solutions, and support commissioning teams.
Essentially, you are ensuring that projects are delivered to specification in accordance with National Grid processes and procedures that deliver the regulatory, stakeholder, and customer commitments. We're looking for engineers who have a good understanding of technical specifications for substation Primary plant design, layout, and configuration to become subject matter experts with National Grid.
Must have:
1. STEM degree or demonstrable experience in a relevant engineering project environment - Electrical bias.
2. Design knowledge on Primary Plant such as equipment layout, earthing, maintenance access, and interlocking on Transformers, Switchgear, Busbar, and Post Insulators etc.
3. Using, interpreting, and writing technical specifications and policies for substation Primary plant.
4. Working knowledge of relevant national and international standards - British Standards (BS), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and Electricity Networks Association (ENA).
Pay and Benefits:
1. £51,899 to £56,000 pa + £3,000 pa Market Supplement + Excellent Benefits Package + Training and Development.
