This is a diverse role, working closely with other engineers and transport planners to design and deliver walking, cycling, bus, and road schemes across the county. About the role: The successful candidate will work as part of the Network Development team, leading a workload of pipeline schemes and carrying out feasibility checks, concept to prelim designs, cost estimates, and identifying project risks. The role is hybrid, based at County Hall in Preston and working from home. About you: We are looking for someone with a passion for highways design and an awareness of the current sustainable / active travel agenda and the role that we can play in tackling the issues we are facing. You will have a relevant qualification or vocational experience in highway design or similar. You will have knowledge of the application, principles, theory, and practice of the specialist area of responsibility, and the ability to apply technical/specialist judgement to ensure scheme objectives are achieved. You will have experience of undertaking feasibility and design work for highways schemes and proficient skills in AutoCAD software or equivalent. You will have some experience producing cost estimates or bills of quantities, either using schedules of rates or obtaining rates and quotes from suppliers. You will have Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills with a wide range of disciplines and external organisations.
