We are looking for a highly skilled Electrical Process Safety Engineer to join our safety engineering team. This role focuses on ensuring the safety, reliability, and integrity of electrical systems within our processes. As an Electrical Process Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing and mitigating risks associated with electrical systems in complex industrial processes, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards, and working closely with cross-functional teams to implement effective safety strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct detailed process safety analyses, including Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) to identify and address potential hazards in electrical systems.
* Develop and implement safety features in electrical system designs, including fail-safes, alarms, and interlocks, to minimize risks and protect personnel and equipment.
* Ensure all electrical processes comply with industry regulations and safety standards, such as OSHA, IEC 61508/61511, NFPA 70E, and IEEE standards.
* Conduct regular process safety audits and inspections of electrical systems, identifying potential safety issues and implementing corrective actions.
* Incident Investigation: Lead root cause analyses for electrical process-related incidents and near-misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Prepare and maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including risk assessments, safety reviews, incident reports, and technical manuals.
* Develop and conduct safety training sessions for engineering and operations teams on electrical process safety best practices and standards.
* Collaborate with process, mechanical, and control engineers to identify opportunities to improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical systems.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum of 3 years experience in electrical process safety, ideally within [relevant industry, e.g., oil & gas, chemical, manufacturing].
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems and process safety engineering, with expertise in risk assessment techniques and tools (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA).
* Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA, IEC 61508/61511, NFPA 70E, and IEEE.
* Excellent analytical skills with an ability to troubleshoot complex systems and develop innovative solutions to safety challenges.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and effectively manage safety initiatives in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills:
* Certified Process Safety Professional (CPSP), Professional Engineer (PE) license, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
* Previous experience with safety-critical electrical systems in industries such as [specify industry, e.g., pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, utilities].
* Familiarity with software for process simulation and safety assessment, such as PHA Pro, BowTieXP, or risk analysis tools, is a plus.
