As Southern Waters Infrastructure Strategic Delivery Partner for Clean & Wastewater, we will be responsible for the Design & Build of major infrastructure projects. This extensive programme covers the entire Southern Water Services region including the Isle of Wight. The clean water infrastructure programme will require upgrading existing assets and installing new assets to reduce leakage and usage across the region. The wastewater programme will support Southern Water Services, in protecting & improving the environment for their communities and customers. Ensuring healthy rivers and seas, through growth, enhancement and sustainability, with a focus on carbon reduction and social value.

Morrison Water Servicesis recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to work on our Southern Water contract in Falmer.
As the Managing Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will include:
General
1. Efficiently manage all commercial aspects of the Project and maintain regular liaison with all stakeholders.
Team Management & Development
2. Assist with the recruitment and staffing structure/ utilisation for direct reports.
3. Assist in building a team, manage the development of personal plans, establishment of objectives/targets for all direct reports and monitor on an ongoing basis - maintain performance.
4. Delegation of appropriate work to all staff, whilst maintaining accountability.
5. Ensure the site teams adheres to group procedures and governance.
Commercial Service Delivery
6. Collate, analysis & challenge Cost/Value Reports and forecasts as required, implement required actions.
7. Design and implement a commercial strategy for their portfolio and tenders with the assistance of their functional manager
8. Ensure that the Commercial Practitioners administer the contracts correctly in a timely and professional manner.
9. Identify, mitigate and manage risk & opportunities for the portfolio of work.
10. Assist with the development and training of Commercial Practitioners including supervisor / mentor / counsellor role for staff undertaking their APC or equivalent.
11. Encourage and develop a culture of contractual & commercial awareness on all projects.
12. Be responsible, where required, to ensure that a review of all of the contractual obligations and commercial risks is carried out prior to the submission of tenders.
13. Assist in maximising of cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans for all projects.
14. Identification and advice upon of insurance related issues, including PI.
15. Ensuring a margin improvement plan exists on each project.
16. Assist in work winning duties as required, including proactive release of team members and attendance at Client Presentations for Tender Interviews
17. Ensuring optimum performance of commercial team for the portfolio of work, undertaking constant reviewing for margin gains in efficiency and timely resource forecasting.
18. Ability to handle Client disputes, with assistance.
19. Ensure that the outturn costs on the projects are monitored on a monthly basis through a detailed bottom up resourced and costed forecast maintained.
20. Undertake any other work as required of you by the Commercial Director.
Corporate Development

Skills & Knowledge Requirements
36. Full Driving License
37. HND/Degree qualification
38. CSCS at appropriate level.
39. Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent.
40. Behaviour training experience - desirable
41. 5 years post qualification experience - desirable
42. Commercially astute with substantially proven experience within a commercial role in the Construction Industry.
43. Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
44. Understanding of programming techniques and project controls.
45. Proven Management Skills
46. Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).l
