Newcastle City Council (City Transport) is seeking an experienced time-served Heavy Goods Vehicle technician to take up a permanent position.
City Transport maintains and repairs a diverse range of vehicles, plant and horticultural equipment, as well as having two MOT stations, testing class 4, 5 & 7 vehicles, licensed taxis, and hackney carriages.
You will join the team primarily in our Heavy workshop at Newington Rd.
We are looking for someone with the skills and experience to achieve the effective and efficient maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of the council’s plant, horticultural equipment & Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) fleet, including an understanding of VOSA standards enabling them to prepare & present LGVs for MOT.
You will have served a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle engineering to NVQ level 3 or equivalent. A category B driving licence is essential. Categories C LGV licence or a valid MOT tester qualification are advantageous.
