Primary Responsibilities as a LAC IRO:
* You Will Chair Looked After Child Review Meetings : As the IRO, you’ll preside over these critical gatherings. Your responsibility? Assess the child’s progress, evaluate their care plan, and ensure that decisions made during these reviews are effectively put into action.
* You Will Monitor the Child’s Care Plan : Vigilance is key. You’ll keep a watchful eye on the child’s care plan, assessing its effectiveness and making adjustments as needed to meet the child’s current requirements.
* You Will Advocate for the Child : The child’s voice matters, and you’ll amplify it. Advocacy is your superpower—ensuring that the local authority takes the child’s wishes and feelings seriously. Their well-being remains at the forefront.
* You Will Inform the Child of Their Rights : Empowerment begins with knowledge. You’ll inform the child of their rights—the right to make applications to court (e.g., for sibling contact) and the right to raise complaints if necessary.
What we are looking for in a Qualified Social Worker:
* Social Work England registration
* Eligible to work in the UK
* Hold a full UK license
* Post-qualified experience
* Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
