Pharmacy Department Advanced Pharmacist - Oncology and Haematology Medicine Full Time (1.0 WTE)
The Pharmacy Department has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated Pharmacist to join the team. As a key member of the Oncology and Aseptics teams you will work directly alongside Consultants, Specialist Nurses, Non-Medical Prescribers, Pharmacy staff and with the wider Healthcare team.
The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering clinical Pharmacy Services to a range of specialties. You will be committed to the provision of highly specialist professional, clinical and scientific information and advice to Multidisciplinary Healthcare staff, patients and carers by using excellent communication and mentoring skills. The role requires strong prioritisation and time management skills to enable you to work efficiently and effectively as part of the wider healthcare team. You will have the highest level of commitment to patient safety and be dedicated to delivering outstanding medicines management.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
* To provide specialist Pharmacy advice in the areas of oncology and haematology medicines and aseptic compounding to Consultants, Junior Medical staff, Nursing staff, Pharmacy staff and other Healthcare professionals, patients and carers.
* Supporting the clinical Pharmacy service to the specialist oncology support ward areas.
* Working as an independent prescriber.
* To lead and co-ordinate education and training for Pharmacists working in cancer services and provide day to day clinical supervision and management.
* To act as the deputy to the accountable Pharmacist for Aseptic services.
* To actively assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, quality systems, internal audits and improvements within the Aseptics unit.
* To contribute to the wider healthcare community's management of oncology and haematology conditions, providing a link between Pharmacy and Cancer Services at Dorset County Hospital to patients and staff in primary care.
* To tutor Pre-Registration Pharmacy graduates and undertake multidisciplinary teaching and supervision of less experienced Pharmacists, Technicians and students.
* Contributing to the training and development of Medical, Nursing and Allied Healthcare Professionals
You will be a non-medical independent prescriber or working towards this qualification.

The post includes a weekly late duty and participation in the weekend and bank holiday rota.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential
* Masters degree or equivalent in Pharmacy
* Full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain (GB or NI)
* Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
* Advanced Clinical Skills training
* Current BLS training
* A minimum of 4yrs post-registration experience in pharmacy
* Demonstratable evidence of competence in specialist clinical practice including medicine, surgery and a further area
* Identifies areas where non-medical Rx may be applicable to specialist practice
* Meets expected levels of practice as defined by others
* Demonstrates ability to deliver a specialist clinical pharmacy service to a defined speciality
* Able to utilise a variety of pharmacy computer systems
Desirable
* Demonstratable evidence of competence in renal
* Qualified as an independent non-medical prescriber
* Identifies areas for practice improvements
* Experience in providing a specialist clinical service to haematology/oncology
* Experience with EPMA
* Good Clinical Practice Certificate - clinical trials
* Advanced Clinical Skills training
* Current Basic Life Support training
* Demonstratable evidence of competence in acute pain and nutrition
