Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Histopathology Laboratory as an Associate Practitioner, Band 4, fixed term until 31st May 2025.
Your role will involve supporting the Biomedical Scientists working in the Histopathology Laboratory. You will join a busy, dedicated and friendly team consisting of Medical Laboratory Assistants, Assistant Practitioners and Biomedical Scientists.

Main duties of the job
1. Performs a number of healthcare science clinical/technical/scientific activities under supervision, performs section cutting, special stains, embedding, non gynae preparation.
2. Maintains clinical records in relation to activities carried out; may input/interrogate test results of others.
3. May be required to supervise, organise and allocate work and/or train less experienced staff in own area.
4. To work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day and/or some weekend working.
5. The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
