An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Early Years Inclusion Team, within the Early Help and Prevention Service and is a full time, permanent position.
Area SENCos support early years providers to develop inclusive early learning environments to enable all children to access their early years education entitlements.
The role includes:
* Providing advice and practical support to early years providers about approaches to identification, assessment and intervention.
* Providing day-to-day support for setting-based SENCOs in ensuring arrangements are in place to include and support all children.
* Strengthening the links between the settings, parents, schools, social care, health and Early Help services.
* Developing and disseminating good practice.
* Supporting the development and delivery of training both for individual settings and on a wider basis.
* Developing links with existing SENCO networks to support smooth transitions to school nursery and reception classes.
* Informing parents of and working with local impartial information, advice and support services, to promote effective work with parents of children in the early years.
The Area SENCO plays an important part in planning for children with SEN to transfer between early years provision and schools.
Successful candidates must have good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and the 0-25 SEND Code of Practice and experience of working in the early years with children who have additional needs, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
