‘Life for a Life’ is a growing charity offering individuals the opportunity to commemorate and celebrate loved ones by planting memorial trees and scattering ashes in over sixty woodland locations across the United Kingdom. We are seeking a dedicated Southern Coordinator in the Somerset region to join our team. As a Woodlands Operative, you will be responsible for planting trees, maintaining grounds, and conducting memorial ceremonies with clients and their families at our Somerset sites. The ceremonies are non-religious and focus on celebrating the lives of loved ones while sharing the mission and values of Life for a Life Memorial Forests. Some further key responsibilities include: Memorial Tree Planting & Ceremony: Lead the dedication of memorial trees and oversee the scattering of ashes during ceremonies, ensuring a respectful and dignified experience for clients and their families. Client Engagement: Foster compassionate relationships with clients, providing clear communication and support during ceremonies. Grounds Maintenance: Perform general landscaping duties including grass cutting, tree pruning, shrub trimming, and litter picking. Tree Replacement: Responsible for the planting and replacement of memorial trees where necessary. Pathways & Infrastructure: Maintain the upkeep of pathways, car parks, and other outdoor features. Collaboration: Liaise regularly with Head Office and the Director of Operations, reporting on site activities and coordinating any necessary tasks. Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe environment for yourself, clients, and colleagues. The successful candidate will have previous experience in grounds maintenance, and a basic knowledge of arboriculture and tree planting techniques. A full, valid driving licence with use of your own vehicle for business purposes is also a must. You will need a compassionate, professional attitude when working with families during emotional moments. You will be self-motivated, have a high level of integrity, and be comfortable working independently in outdoor settings. Employment in this role will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check. Working Conditions: This is a flexible, part-time role with an average of 20 hours worked over 4 days per month, mainly during weekends, with flexibility required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed, and necessary tools and training will be provided.
