THE COMPANY: My client is a forward-thinking main contractor with a regional turnover in excess of £150m. They have an extensive portfolio of completed schemes spanning a wide range of sectors including cutting-edge carbon-free buildings, Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Ecclesiastical, Industrial, Leisure, and General Public works. These have been secured using a diverse range of procurement methods, including substantial repeat business methods due to their non-confrontational approach. They are also included on many Framework agreements.
POSITION: Bid Manager
Responsibilities:
1. Liaise with external parties to acquire tender enquiries and contract awards, attending meetings and presentations as necessary.
2. Coordinate the following activities within the Pre-Contract Department to ensure efficient processing of tender opportunities, tender preparation, and tender submissions:
1. Estimating
2. Planning
3. Design Management
3. Attend and initiate regular department meetings to review workload and resources.
4. Liaise with other Departments to obtain information and the attendance of personnel to prepare prequalification and tender submissions and related interviews/meetings.
5. Review the content and quality of documentation used in prequalification tender submissions and interviews.
6. Review the tender activity with other Managers to ensure that risk is mitigated and residual risk is identified and presented to the tender adjudication meeting.
7. Ensure smooth handover of projects from pre-contracts to contracts departments.
8. Identify and select with other managers preferred consultants for appointment on Design and Build projects, maintain records of appointments, and obtain feedback on performance.
9. Coordinate with Land Advisor to ensure development opportunities are maximised.
