Have you recently left school?\n\nAre you interested in starting a career in administration?\n\nDo you want to earn money while you learn on the job and work towards a Level 6 Business and Administration SVQ?\n\nA friendly, supportive medical practice based in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Modern Apprentice in a Medical Administrator role.\n\nThis job will involve reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required and liaising with staff and external agencies.\n\nThis opportunity is for a Modern Apprenticeship on a 14 month contract but the Practice would be open to offering a permanent role for the right candidate on completion of the Apprenticeship.\n\n\nResponsibilities include:\nProcessing requests for appointments and prescription requests\nAnswering incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately\nEffectively signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition\nInitiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies\nAdministration of patient records\nInputting data into the patientâs healthcare records as necessary\nManaging all queries as necessary in an efficient manner\nCarrying out system searches as requested\nMaintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times\nMonitoring and maintaining the reception area and notice boards\nSupporting all clinical staff with general tasks as requested\nMonitoring of stationery supplies\nContribute ideas and suggestions to the smooth running of the reception and administrative functions\n Along with the duties in your role, you will undertake a Level 6 SVQ in Business and Administration and will be supported throughout.\n\nYou will have the opportunity to learn about different aspects of a medical administrator role and about the importance of confidentiality.\n\nYou will learn how to communicate with team members, patients and external partners to provide a high level of customer service.\n The most important thing is that you are motivated, keen to learn and confident communicating with a range of people.\n\nNational 5 qualifications- particularly in English, Mathematics and Business and Administration- desirable but not essential\nGood communication and interpersonal skills are important\nPrevious customer service experience is desirable\nEnthusiasm and a 'can do' attitude is key- you should be willing to learn and work hard\nAbility to work well as part of a team\nTime management is key- you will be part of a busy GP Practice team and will have to manage your time between your duties and your SVQ work\nAbility to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information\n\nIf you think you are the right person for this challenging and rewarding role, we would love to hear from you
