Job Description Your Mission Join our Environmental Management team as a Waste and Resources Lead, reporting to the Site Environment & Sustainability Manager. This role is vital to ensuring the waste management requirements of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project are met efficiently and sustainably. You’ll be responsible for managing the site’s waste contract in a technically compliant manner while optimising commercial and environmental outcomes. ⚡️ Maintain in-depth knowledge of waste legislation and apply technical expertise to construction waste management. ⚡️ Enhance waste management operations using experience from construction or complex industrial environments. ⚡️ Lead waste management strategy, ensuring successful project delivery on time and within budget. ⚡️ Engage positively with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and regulatory bodies. ⚡️ Identify and implement innovative recovery or recycling solutions for evolving waste streams. ⚡️ Chair monthly Waste Management meetings with contractor waste leads. ⚡️ Liaise regularly with the Environment Agency and ensure regulatory compliance. ⚡️ Support the Project’s Net Zero and Circular Economy objectives by driving sustainable waste policies. Qualifications Essential Skills In-depth knowledge of waste legislation and experience in large-scale construction or high-hazard industrial waste management. Expertise in Technical Guidance WM3 and advanced waste classification. Proven project management experience, handling significant work packages and budgets. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with internal and external partners. Ability to manage large data sets and produce environmental, contractual, and financial reports. Strategic thinker with experience in complex issue resolution and supply chain collaboration. Track record of successful project delivery in fast-paced environments. Desired Skills ✔️ Degree-level education or relevant technical experience in a related field. ✔️ NEC3 Contract training. ✔️ Project Management qualification (PRINCE2 or APM). ✔️ CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Qualification. ✔️ Membership of CIWM or IEMA. ✔️ Experience working under ADR Regulations and waste permitting compliance.
