Job summary
The ENT and Audiology services are part of the surgical specialities. Speech and language therapy is onsite and managed by the community service. The ENT department manages all aspects of general and paediatric ENT.
The post-holder will be responsible to the ENT Consultants and will work collaboratively with the associate medical director and the clinical director for the service. Ultimately the person in post will be accountable to the medical director.
Regular mortality and morbidity meetings are held in the department and juniors are encouraged to present audit and research which they have undertaken. Where possible, timetables will be modified to meet the training needs of the individual appointed
Main duties of the job
Whilst on duty, the post holder has clinical and professional responsibility for their patients. It is also the duty of the post holder to:
1. Keep patients (and/or their carers is appropriate) informed about their condition.
2. Involve patients and/or their carers if appropriate in decision making about their treatment.
3. Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical
4. Council and comply in particular with the GMC's guidanceon 'Good Medical Practice.'

8. To provide medical care to patients as required ensuring that the appropriate standards of care are delivered through a multidisciplinary and Hospital at Night team.
9. To maintain patient confidentiality and ensure that personal access to information systems is secure from others.

11. To ensure that accurate records of care are maintained and that information is accurately and appropriately communicated to other professionals as required.

12. To maintain own professional registration through CPD as required by GMC and the medical colleges
