Hours per week: 37 hours per week
Contract Length: Initially 12 months, likely extension
Location: Reading (full time onsite)
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to provide primary support for Oracle and MS SQL database environments. This will include daily operations, backup and recovery and monitoring performance.
You will have Full life cycle support of Oracle (19c) and MS SQL (2016, 2019 & 2022) environments and be able to provide recommendations on database architecture, design, and implementation.
Key accountabilities:
Provide primary support for Oracle and MS SQL database environments including daily operations, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, and production support.
Development, documentation, implementation and maintenance of operational policies / best practice for the database estate.
Continual process improvement with a focus on automation of repeatable tasks.
Identification of self-service opportunities and ownership of implementation.
Ensure changes to databases and services align with operational standards, service level agreements and business requirements.
Design and implementation of new database environments.
Strategic planning, capacity planning, and implementing best practices for database management. Introduce and deploy new database technology.
Experience:
Full life cycle support of Oracle (19c) and MS SQL (2016, 2019 & 2022) environments.
Providing advice and recommendations on database architecture, design, and implementation.
Designing and implementing database solutions that meet customer requirements for reliability, availability, scalability, security, and performance.
Installing upgrading and testing database software, in addition to troubleshooting database issues.
Planning and performing disaster recovery testing with database restoration in alternate locations.
Responding to incidents / changes within published SLA's to maintain/resume service
