Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Lead Materials Engineer to support our growing engineering teams based at Staverton. About the role: You’ll take the lead on providing M&P (Materials & Processes) expertise at Ontic whilst supporting all colleagues onsite. You’ll be responsible for generating and approving material process documents and special process specifications in accordance with business requirements. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to REACH for all aerospace and marine products within the business. You’ll have the autonomy to own and maintain a ‘Materials Change Process’ for the purpose of combating material obsolescence within programs, and supporting in-service investigations and failure analysis. In addition you’ll support the Sustaining Engineering function at Ontic with the disposition of supplier concessions and production permits, plus the creation of documents such as engineering reports and design guides. About you: You’ll need to have substantial experience within a M&P (Materials & Processes) role, ideally working with NPI /R&D and legacy programmes but not essential. You’ll be able to show expertise in writing and approving technical materials reports and process specifications. You’ll also need to be experienced in auditing suppliers of materials and special processes for approval purposes within the global supply chain and will ideally have worked with a variety of materials.
