If you join us as Assistant Management Accountant on a fixed term contract, your work will contribute to better business performance by closely collaborating with business leaders to track financial performance, support key transformational projects and guide decision making.
You’ll handle the month-end process for specific areas of the business, including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet account reconciliations. This involves reviewing month-end results, communicating any concerns, and providing insight on performance issues. You’ll create monthly performance reports, support budget managers with budgeting and forecasting, and work with auditors in an ethical manner.
We have some great opportunities in the pipeline with the chance to support the delivery of a new finance system and the development and implementation of our next 5-year business plan. Therefore, there is the possibility that the contract term could be extended.

What will you be responsible for?
* Manage the month end process, accruals, and prepayments for specific areas of the business and of the profit and loss. Undertake periodic balance sheet account reconciliations, highlighting risks and opportunities.
* Review month end result for any concerns / issues / significant variances and use influence to confidently communicate the impact and be a sounding board for associated discussions.
* Understand stakeholder needs in producing and presenting a monthly performance pack for each area of responsibility, highlighting any performance issues, concerns, trends and raising any questions to ensure performance is put in context of the wider business performance.
* Apply effective communication skills to build trust and work collaboratively and assertively with other areas of the business to facilitate productive business discussions and contribute to the organisation's performance.
* Provide guidance and support to budget holders through the budget and forecasting cycles to ensure accurate and owned budgets and forecasts.
* Engage ethically with financial auditors and provide audit analysis and commentary as required.
What do you bring to the role?
* Ideally a part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
* Minimum AAT Level 4 qualification.
* Could also be qualified by experience with strong industry experience.
* Experience in a similar sized organisation would be beneficial.
* Can demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of key accounting principles such as accruals, prepayments, and materiality.
* Exceptional analytical skills to effectively interpret data and communicate findings clearly.
* Ability to adopt a collaborative and assertive style with others.
* Can confidently challenge others and evaluate proposals critically.
* Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines within a fast-paced Finance department.
* An ethical approach and the ability to exercise professional judgement.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Worksheets
