The IP Transport Specialist will be responsible for how the IP Transport network design for BT’s mobile services, for our commercial and Emergency Services customers, is replicated, implemented, and maintained in the representative test & innovation environments. This role ensures the Mobile Labs network's reliability, security and performance, supporting critical communication services.
The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV).
What you’ll be doing
1. Configure and deploy network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls to support ESN's infrastructure.
2. Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security incidents.
3. Continuously monitor network performance and security, implementing necessary updates and patches. Implement and manage security protocols to protect the network from potential threats.
4. Provide ongoing operational support, ensuring network stability and performance. This includes managing network changes, performing routine maintenance, and responding to incidents.
5. Work closely with Design teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure network reliability and efficiency.

What we would like to see on your CV
1. Expert level knowledge of IP Transport. Hands-on experience with Nokia's SR 7750 IPsec GW framework and proficiency with Cisco Nexus 7000 and 9000 series.
2. Extensive expertise in IP MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) and related services, including architecture, label distribution, traffic engineering, and MPLS-based VPN implementation.
3. Understanding of firewall technologies, with hands-on experience in Checkpoint and Fortinet being advantageous.
4. Exposure to automation tools, Junos OS, F5 BIG-IP, Load balancer, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), mobile backhaul and Cisco ASR 1001, would be highly beneficial.
5. Certification in any of the following would be preferred - NRS2, CCNA, CCNP.

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
